To manufacture plant growth controllers like Cycocel or Chloromequat Chloride (2-Chloroethyl trimethyl ammonium chloride).

Surface Active Agents

Used in the manufacture of Alkyl Quaternary Ammonium salts used as germicides and fabric softners with antistatic properties.

Miscellaneous

Acceleration of polymerisation of Methyl Methacrylate derivative. Quaternary ammonium salts of Trimethylamine are used as Phase Transfer catalyst.

Storage

TMA anhydrous should be stored in suitably designed pressure vessel. TMA solution drums should be stored in cool,well ventillated area away from sources of ignition. Avoid contact with copper and its alloys.

Packing

Anhydrous solution is offered in bulk road tankers.
Aqueous solution is offered in 210 litre capacity M.S. drum containing 170 kg net of TMA and also in bulk road tankers.

Health & Safety

Trimethylamine is irritating to skin, eyes and the mucous membrane. In case of inhaltion, victim should be moved to fresh air and oxygen should be administered. In case of ingestion, victim should be made to consume copious quantity of milk and water.Medical advice should be sought at once. Personal protective equipment should always be used while handling.
